When everyone invents their own format, handoffs become difficult. When PM requirements docs, designer specs, and engineering technical docs each have different structures, recipients must understand the format before understanding the content. AI agents cannot reliably extract structured information from freeform documents.
Templates reduce cognitive load, ensure completeness, and enable automation. Standardization is a prerequisite for AI consumption.
Principle
- All roles MUST produce standardized deliverables.
Product specs include problem statement, user stories, success metrics, scope, dependencies, and acceptance criteria. Design specs include user flows, wireframes, design tokens, interaction states, and accessibility requirements. Technical specs include architecture overview, API contracts, data models, error handling, security considerations, and testing strategy.
